Moving back to LA means several things. Most obviously it means running up the steep hills of Silverlake yelling “EL AYYYYYYYY! MY SEEEEETY!” and air thrusting out across the view of the reservoir.
Less obviously, it involves finding a place to move back to.
Yes, tumblr. You are shaking your heads in disbelief. A place…to live…?
I was equally shocked and indignant.
Imagine my dismay, then, when I learned not only that I would need to secure shelter but also that it would be such a goddamn pain in my tiny yet shapely behind.
The thing about grad students is that no one wants to rent houses to them. Land lords would rather rent to families and established (ugh) “professionals.”
But what, beloved tumblr community, is a professional made of? If you answered BUISNESS CASUAL, POWERPOINT, and A BRIEFCASE you are correct. Kayla, my roommate, and I realized we needed to trick people into thinking we were smart, driven lady bosses simply by looking the part.
So today I’m off to LA dressed in my spin on the dreaded business casual….SEXY AMISH SCHOOL MARM. I’ll let you know how it shakes down…to be continued.
